Synopsis

A young girl, called Lunia Hara, is send by her parents from an African village in Zambia to Berlin at the age of 10. She is growing up in the house of her eldest sister Linda. Later, when she starts working in Berlin, she gets to know Roland, a young man from Southern Germany. This is the story of their marriage.

The film begins with the preparation of an opulent party in the main city of Zambia, Lusaka. Friends and family prepare together the party of the initiation of the young bride during several days. Two hundred women from around the country are gathering together to party and honor the bride with dances, singing, prayers, presents and food.

The travel continues to the Eastern provinces to a little village, called Chipata, where they celebrate the marriage during three days. Richness and poverty, Christian religion and old, traditional rituals are confronting each other and result in a colorful chaos. Ngoma, Mganda and Nyau are celebrating their dances of their old tribes and fill the beauty of life with music. But the liveliness and joy of this Zambian-German marriage can not hide, that many people still live in great poverty, and that Lunia will forever miss her country, still when she is happy in Germany.
